Category: Full timeDuration: One year contract (maternity leave replacement) September 5, 2023 – October 22, 2024DESCRIPTIONThe Digital Archivist position is a full-time position (32 hrs / wk). The Digital Archivist works under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Archives. The candidate’s mandate is to continue migrating the Archives’ catalogue from a text-based local program (InMagic) to the Archive’s newly minted AtoM instance. The Digital Archivist collaborates closely with the Processing Archivist and the Reference Archivist to continuously assess migration priorities, digital object migrations, and to plan and execute external digitization projects.The position offers the opportunity to manage digital assets, and to be part of a team that is working on increasing digital access, which forms part of the JPL’s Digital Transformation Initiative.RESPONSIBILITIES– Migrate catalogue to AtoM– Normalize data according to existing conventions– Execute migration of digital objects to AtoM– Perform secondary and tertiary processing tasks, such as re-configuring series and/or file numbers in existing fonds during the migration process, and less often, processing accruals for a fonds during its migration– Select or create, and assign, access points for newly migrated archival records– Conduct preliminary research on implementing a digital curation and preservation program– Participate in strategic planning of digitizing analogue materials, and contribute to the execution of these projects– Collect migration and digitization statistics and prepare reportsQUALIFICATIONS– Master’s degree in library, archival, and/or information studies from an ALA-accredited institution– Experience implementing a digital curation and preservation program– Experience managing or executing archival systems migrations– Experience working with AtoM a strong asset– Experience in project management an asset– Experience processing archival materials an asset– Strong written and oral communication skills
