Description
The Ontario Regional Council Archives located in Toronto is seeking an individual to fill the role of Assistant Archivist for 13 weeks from May 27, 2024 to August 23, 2024 with the support of the Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations Program.The Ontario Regional Council Archives is the sole authority and repository for the appraisal and permanent retention of archival records of the Ontario regional councils – Antler River Watershed, East Central Ontario, Horseshoe Falls, Shining Waters, and Western Ontario Waterways, and parts of Canadian Shield and Eastern Ontario Outaouais – and pastoral charges that fall within their boundaries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the appraisal, arrangement and description of Ontario communities of faith (congregations, pastoral charges and specialized ministries), including textual, graphic, audiovisual and architectural records.

Qualifications
Must be eligible to participate in the Young Canada Works program
Completed one year of a recognized graduate program in Archival, Library or Information Studies, or an equivalent diploma program
Experience with Access to Memory application is preferred;
Understanding of Rules for Archival Description ;
Strong work ethic and time management skills;
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail;
Excellent organizational skills;
Computer skills in the use of various software applications;
Comfortable learning new tools and working in a hybrid team;
Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; and
Alignment with the vision and values of The United Church of Canada – respect, integrity, passion and diversity.

Working Conditions
Works primarily from The United Church of Canada Archives located at 40 Oak Street in Toronto, Ontario under normal office working conditions

Compensation
Salary will be at $21.13 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
