iCare: Designing Healing Futures Workshop-Presented By Tania Anaissie

This workshop series aims to introduce students to the use of design justice as tool for fostering community care,  imagining just futures for all, and building networks of designers, artists, cultural workers and technologists working at the intersection of racial, social and cultural equity.

Workshop Title: Co-Designed Futures: How to build solutions WITH communities that are impacted

Workshop Description:

Join us for an interactive workshop to explore the mindsets and tools of Liberatory Design, an equity-centered design process. We will discuss the core tenets of “co-design,” designing WITH customers and community members, including case studies and real-life constraints. Then participants will apply a subset of tools to a project topic. Interested in what it means to build solutions with the people your product is meant to support? Want to better understand how you can build ethical and responsible products solutions? This session is for you.

Speaker Bio:

Tania Anaissie (she/her) is a Founding Creator of Liberatory Design, a new practice of human-centered design that incorporates complexity theory and equity practice to drive innovation towards liberation. Tania is also a Founding Member of the Equity Design Collaborative, Faculty at The National Equity Project and a Lecturer at the Stanford University d.school. She is an expert workshop designer and facilitator with over a decade of experience leading learning experiences in 12 countries for over 30 different clients and over 1500 learners. Tania is a graduate of Stanford University’s Product Design program, an advisor in Stanford’s Design Impact program, and a StartingBloc fellow.
