Introduction to Braille and Accessibility for Print Disabilities Workshop

The Accessibility Interests Working Group (AIWG) will be hosting an interactive workshop focusing on print disabilities, braille and alt text.

Workshop description: This interactive workshop will offer an introductory overview of print disabilities, braille, and alt text with a focus on accessibility for librarians and archivists. The workshop topics will cover what book options exist for people with print disabilities, how to write alt text for social media and digital exhibits, and a variety of braille topics, including the different types of braille, how to work with digitized braille materials, and how braille embossing works. You’ll also get a chance to read and write in braille and write your own alt text. No prior knowledge of braille or accessibility is required to attend this workshop.
