March 13 Message from Assistant Dean Stephanie Rose

Dear Faculty of Information Students,

We understand that as courses move online you may have some questions about navigating the online environment. We expect that specific approaches in your courses will become more clear through communication from your instructors over the next few days.

In the meantime, if you’d like to become more familiar with the online environment available in Quercus, there is a student guide here: https://q.utoronto.ca/courses/46670/pages/student-guide

It is also possible there will be some individual class cancellations next week. If this turns out to be the case, it is no different from a regular lecture being cancelled and will result in a later make-up class, if necessary.

To help support our students needing technology, we will be increasing the length of time for laptops loaned out by the Inforum through the remainder of the winter term. Laptops are now available for one week, with extensions available as needed.

For students who feel comfortable and safe coming to campus and do not have any cold or flu-like symptoms, internet access is available at UofT libraries and facilities, including the Inforum, although it is possible that hours could be reduced or circumstances could change.

Student Services will also be operational. Additionally, students are welcome to email me,  Lindsay Jackowitz Lindsay.jackowetz@utoronto.ca or Sherry Dang sherry.lin@utoronto.ca if they require additional assistance.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding with this transition to online as it unfolds.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Rose

Assistant Dean
