Thanksgiving 2021 message from the Dean

Submitted on Friday, October 08, 2021

Dear Students and Colleagues,

This is just a quick note to wish everybody in the Faculty of Information community a happy Thanksgiving and to say how much I’ve appreciated getting to meet some of you face to face over the past few weeks.

Like many of you, I’ve returned to campus part-time and it’s been wonderful to be back. Of course, it is not without its challenges. As much as I’m thrilled to be signing at least a few documents with a pen instead of an electronic signature, a lot of my other interactions remain online as do many of yours, no doubt.

If the students among you haven’t already heard from the Student Services team, they will be reaching out to you in the very near future to see what, if any, challenges you’re facing. Please remember too that while some things like fitness classes and certain types of counselling are available in person again, there are other versions that can be accessed online for those who would prefer. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free, as always, to contact me or the Student Services team.

While the pandemic is not yet over, the start of this new academic term, the beautiful fall colours, and the excellent covid numbers in Ontario have given me a lot of hope for what’s ahead in the months to come and much to be thankful for this weekend.

All the very best to you and yours,

Wendy Duff
Professor and Dean
