Eshta Bhardwaj’s research focuses on the role of data practices in judgment and decision-making for wicked problems with qualities such as incommensurability, psychological distance, and moral hazard.
She explores a variety of related questions in this area including: how dataset development processes within machine learning research can be improved with the adoption of data curation principles, concerns of fairness, accountability, and transparency in “data work” within predictive modelling, how to design interventions in data practices to aid in sustainability decision-making, and investigating how cognitive processes impact the decision-making around processing, interpreting, and relaying data.
