Dr. Maher Elshakankiri is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, at the Faculty of Information (iSchool), University of Toronto. He holds an Engineering degree, Master and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Ain Shams University (Egypt). He had a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Regina (Canada). Before joining the University of Toronto, he worked as a faculty member at several universities in different countries.

His main research interests include Internet of Things, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. He has more than twenty-five published journal and conference papers. Dr. Elshakankiri published a book titled “Introduction to Wireless Sensor Networks.” He is a reviewer at several journals and a technical program committee member in many conferences.

Dr. Elshakankiri supervised more than one hundred capstone/course projects in the software, hardware, and networking fields.
