EQUITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION STATEMENTThe Region of Durham is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion within its community and organization, and strongly welcomes and encourages applications from Indigenous Peoples, people of colour, women, persons who live with disabilities, people from 2SLGBTQI+ communities and people from diverse communities.In accordance with the AODA Act, accommodation will be provided throughout the recruitment process to applicants with disabilities.Supervisor, Information ManagementJob ID: 15677Corporate Services DepartmentWork Location: Whitby, ONSalary: $76,827 to $96,034 per annumClose Date: February 13, 2022Description:Reporting to the Manager, Information Management, the Supervisor, Information Management (IM) will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing administration of the IM Program within the Legislative Services Division.The incumbent will:• Structure, design and manage the IM Program including policies, procedures, training, monitoring, auditing, evaluating and ongoing administration• Provide leadership and ongoing direction to the IM Program staff• Establish, review and revise policies, processes, protocols and implement program controls governing the collection, use, access, security, storage, retention and disposition of Regional information• Establish and implement cross-organization internal audit and assurance programs to monitor compliance with program controls and demonstrate due diligence• Ensure risk assessment tools remain robust• Research legislation and best practice surrounding the development of the Region’s archival program• Develop and implement programs and training modules in a variety of media to ensure that all employees and affiliates (volunteers, consultants, elected officials) are aware of and appropriately trained on the Region’s information management practices and obligations• Attend at Council, Committee and senior leadership meetings as subject matter expert and program resource, anticipating information needs, providing advice and credible recommendationsThe successful applicant will possess:• A degree in Information Management, Business Administration, Business Analysis or a related discipline• A minimum of five years’ experience leading and undertaking policy development, ideally in a municipal environment• Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment• Demonstrated experience in business function, records analysis and records management systems• A demonstrated understanding of municipal, provincial and federal laws and regulations concerning information management, the Municipal Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Personal Health Information and Privacy Act, related regulations and procedures• Sound knowledge of the principles of adult education, training and development, change management, risk management technologies and an understanding of information systems• Sound policy and technical research skills• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex, legal and technical information to a wide variety of audiences• Ability to develop and deliver work plans to achieve Corporate and Departmental objectives• Proven analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills• Strong planning, budgeting, project and time management skills• A valid Ontario ‘G’ driver’s licence and the use of a reliable vehicleConditions of EmploymentProof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will be required prior to start date.In addition, all Region of Durham employees are required to be fully vaccinated, as defined in the Region’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, as a condition of hire in accordance with the Region’s Mandatory Vaccination Policy.
