Job Description
The person in this position will work closely with academic business librarians to design and create a small collection of accessible, short videos on topics such as demographic research, industry research and more using specialized business resources. They will have the opportunity to demonstrate use of business databases in recordings, create and update slides and scripts, and be involved in every step of ensuring videos are accessible and user-friendly. The experience will include practicing instruction skills such as teaching how to use databases on recordings, promoting library services and collections, and creating instructional slides, as well as using technical skills such as video-editing. The person in this role will gain experience using business databases, and learning about the role of academic liaison librarians. The completed videos will be publicly available, and can be shared by the person in this role as examples of projects they have contributed to in an academic library setting.This position will be the successful candidate’s choice of in-person, hybrid, or remote.Preferred experience:– Video editing– Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL)– Use of business databases such as Statista, Mintel, Passport, IBISWorld, Globaldata, or others.– Teaching or instructing in a library or academic settingRequired:– An appreciation of the importance of adhering to accessibility standards– Proficient use of Google Slides and Zoom– 1 year in MLIS or MLS program or equivalent, and currently a studentSalary: $25/hourDuration: Part-time: 360 hours over a flexible summer schedule to be mutually agreed-upon by librarian supervisors and graduate student.To apply, please submit a cover letter outlining why you are interested and CV/resume to rsteinberg@torontomu.ca with Academic Business Instruction Development – Graduate Student in the subject.
