Job Description |
The Access Archivist Intern position exists to fulfill the legislated functions related to archives as per the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and City of Calgary bylaws. In this position, you will identify, acquire, preserve, and make accessible material in the form of civic and private records (physical and digital) which document the structure, functions, activities, and history of the Corporation of The City of Calgary and its predecessors. Primary duties include:
– Review archival records for personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with the FOIP Act prior to making them available to researchers, relocate or redact archival materials containing PII in accordance with FOIP requirements, and track and manage relocated archival records containing PII. |

Qualifications: – A degree plus additional training in Archives, Privacy, Library or Museum studies (e.g. Masters, Diploma or Certificate) and at least 1 year experience in Archives, Privacy, Library or Museum setting. – Must meet Young Canada Works eligibility requirements. – Preference will be given to specialized training obtained through a Masters of Archival Studies, Information Access and Protection of Privacy (IAPP) certification, Information Studies, Library Science or Knowledge Management degree. – Experience working with ArchivEra or other archives management software and databases will be considered an asset. – Success in this position requires excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail, accompanied by demonstrated customer focus and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with, and communicate effectively, with various levels of both staff and elected officials. |
