MMSt Exhibition Launch: The Medium is the Message

Submitted on Tuesday, May 09, 2017

You are invited to attend the opening of The Medium is the Message, a new exhibition that will accompany the Theoretical Archaeology Group-North America’s 2017 Conference.

The Medium is the Message explores how representational and interactive media condition and shape all dimensions of human cognition and social organization.  Using material from University of Toronto excavations located around the globe, The Medium is the Message invites visitors to explore the history of archaeological thought and discover that archaeological research is an inherently mediated enterprise.

The Medium is the Message has been created in partnership with the Theoretical Archaeological Group-North America, the Archaeology Centre, the University of Toronto’s Department of Anthropology, the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, and two Master of Museum Studies students, Curtis Frederick and Dana Murray. The exhibition runs from May 16-26 in the Anthropology Building at the University of Toronto.  Technology demonstrations are from 12-1pm, Monday to Friday.
