Artificial Intelligence for Justice Lab celebrates 4th anniversary

The Artificial Intelligence for Justice Lab (AIJ) marked a significant milestone on January 27, 2024, as it celebrated its 4th anniversary. Founded in January 2020 by Assistant Professor Jia Xue, the lab has made remarkable strides in research and training since its inception.

In the realm of research, the AIJ Lab has produced 43 research papers, firmly establishing itself as a leader in computational social science with a focus on human-centered data science. Notably, a remarkable 75% of these publications involve student contributions, showcasing the Lab’s commitment to training. In total, 45 students have benefited from the Lab’s mentorship, with 26 unique students actively contributing to publications.

The AIJ Lab’s mission encompasses a wide range of topics, including Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Assault, School Bullying, Health Information Communication, Computational Social Science, Information Communication Technology, App/Mobile Design, Data Mining, Human-Centered AI, and Human-Centered Data Science.

During the 4th-anniversary event, the Lab recognized exceptional individuals with five prestigious awards, including the Publication Excellence Award (Chengda Zheng, MI), Lab Leadership Award (Qiaoru Zhang, BA), Creative Branding Visionary Award (Wenzhao Zhang, Kehan Tan, MI), Critical Thinker Award (Bolun Zhang, Doctoral student), and Data Wizard Award (Hong Shi, MI).
