State of the library profession: challenges, and opportunities. A talk by ALA President, Emily Drabinski

Emily Drabinski, President of the American Library Association, will be speaking at the Faculty of Information on Wednesday, January 24th, posing several critical questions:

  • What is the mission of the librarian and librarianship?
  • How can students prepare for their future career while on a learning path?
  • What tools and tactics can help to build up expertise and skills?

When: Wednesday, January 24, 10.00 to 11.30 a.m.

Where: BL 404 in the Learning Hub, Bissell Building (140 St. George Street)

Bio: Emily Drabinski serves as President of the American Library Association and is Associate Professor at the Queens (N.Y.) College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. She publishes and presents widely on topics related to knowledge organization, information literacy, and critical perspectives in librarianship. In 2020, she received the Career Achievement Award from the Association of College & Research Libraries’s Women and Gender Studies Section.
