We have received funding for this position from the Canada Summer Jobs program. Interested applicants must meet the following requirements as set by the Canada Summer Jobs program;(a) is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;(b) is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and(c) is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.The summer student will work with the Archivist and Archives Assistant to assess and prepare material for digitization. Using a scanner, the student will digitize the relevant material using standard software and add metadata during quality control review of scanned images to ensure that all data was successfully captured using FADGI standards and OCR is complete. In collaboration with the Administration department, the student will enter relevant decisions into a database. This work will benefit several departments within the organization.The successful candidate will:• Work effectively as part of a team to assess and prepare records for digitization.• Digitize records using FADGI standards for documents and communicate any issues encountered to the Archivist.• Verify accuracy and completeness of digitized records.• Communicate with stakeholders to confirm data to be entered.• Reporting to the archivist, develop best practices for digital preservation of scanned records.Job Qualifications:Skills and Qualifications:• Students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Archives, Library Sciences and/or Information (Records) Management.• Archival or records managment experience is preferred but not required.• A knowledge of digitization best practices, Rules for Archival Description, and controlled vocabularies.• Strong organizational skills.• Attention to detail.• Ability to maintain confidentiality.• Strong communication skills.• Ability to work independently.• The ability for some heavy lifting and to work in dusty surroundings.The Anglican Diocese of Toronto embraces diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive workplace.
