Job Description
This position runs a total of 23 weeks, beginning at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton, Ontario on July 12, 2024 and ending December 20, 2024.
Reporting to the Archivist, the Archives Intern is responsible for arranging and describing archival artifacts and records, along with the accurate maintenance of the Museum’s archival database. The Archives Intern also performs basic conservation and cleaning of archival records as required. Key responsibilities include re-housing, arranging and describing oversized archival records, records related to agriculture and agricultural organizations in Bruce County, and photographs and research files related to Albemarle Township. The Intern will also digitize a select number of these records.

Requirements
• Graduate of a two-year post-secondary diploma in archival studies, records management studies, library studies, or museum studies, or equivalent previous related experience
• Knowledge and understanding of current archival principles, systems and best practices, including the Rules for Archival Description
• Proficient computer skills, especially with database management
• Strong research skills
• Good communications and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Meets eligibility criteria as outlined in the Young Canada Works funding program
